Joost Bakker is an artist who primarily makes drawings. His subjects vary from small wonders to larger queries. On paper his ideas, fascinations, and observations quickly take form. Sometimes they remain as sketches or drawings, but often the drawings lead to a construction. Recently Bakker has been experimenting with so–called ′light–animated–drawings′, a link between older and newer techniques/media. An animation is projected onto a drawing and together they merge into a new composition on the verge between film and drawing.

After completing his studies at the Art Academy in Arnhem, Joost Bakker was invited by the Sandberg Institute (Amsterdam) to continue his experiments. This period has recently come to a close. Bakker′s work has been shown in institutions of both art and architecture. The first two ′screenable′ animation films have been shown at many festivals around the world. His drawings have been regularly published in various periodicals such as Vrij Nederland. Joost Bakker lives and works in Arnhem.
