While using the ongoing economic globalization of our society as a starting point for her installations and urban projects, Barbara Holub aims to reach the limits of the individual. Holub constructs ′settings′ in public space or art institutes in which she investigates the possibilities of the individual as a public actor.
Barbara Holub is both architect and artist. She is a member of transparadiso, a Viennese cooperation in the field of the arts, architecture and urban interventions. Currently, she is working on Winners and Losers, a project for Future Systems (curated by Maia Damianovic) in Birmingham and Belgrade. In this piece she is researching regeneration programmes in the areas of postindustrial urban living conditions.
From 2006 till 2007 Barbara Holub is the president of the Vienna Secession.
